The crime and bust happened on the same Sunday, April 7. According to Barrow County Sheriff's Lt. Matt Guthas, the suspects broke into a home shortly after midnight.
The victim, described as an elderly man, was blindfolded and his hands tied. According to Guthas, the men stole the victim's wallet, collector coins, other items in the house and a 2005 Chevrolet pickup.
Investigators later found the truck had been burned and left in a field off Jackson Trail Road.
Authorities stopped 21 year old Akeem Oneil Jones of Statham at about 6:30 p.m. He had warrants out of Barrow and Clarke counties and the state of Ohio.
Deputies searched Jones and found a coin stolen in the home invasion. They later served a search warrant on the vehicle and found the victim's license, coins, medication and credit cards.
Although Jones had been driving, investigators said the suspect vehicle was owned by 19 year old Ryan Tyler Conner of Winder. Conner was in the car at the time of the stop, according to Guthas.
Both men are charged with first degree burglary, robbery, theft by taking, arson, false imprisonment, battery on a person over the age of 65, criminal trespass, and second degree criminal damage to property.
At last check, both men remained in the Barrow County Detention Center, Conner on $97,000 and Jones on $100,000 bonds.
