GAINESVILLE - The first meeting of the city of Gainesville's new Transportation Focus Group will be this afternoon at 5:30 at the Fair Street Neighborhood Center.

Other meetings are planned for May 2, June 20, and July 25.

The 10-member citizens panel was formed by the Gainesville City Council several weeks ago but there was some trouble finding members. (See earlier story. Link below.) City officials hope the meetings will result in ideas for the betterment of transportation in the city. The ideas will be shared with Transportation Policy members for possible inclusion in the Gainesville's ongoing Transportation Study.

The group will also be hosting a series of "community" meetings over the next few months. Those will be held at the Gainesville Civic Center at 5:30 on May 8, June 27 and August 1.
