Apalachee tallied 50 points to 46.5 for Cedar Shoals after the finals of the boys field events. Loganville is third with 33 points and Gainesville fourth with 28 points. The Flowery Branch boys are sixth with 25 points.
The Loganville girls have 55 points to 37 for second place Flowery Branch after Day 2. Cedar Shoals is third with 36 points and Gainesville is fourth with 32 points.
In the girls meet, Loganville had a solid day. The Lady Red Devils won the 4x800 meter relay and took the top two spots in the pole vault. They also got individual wins in the shot put and long jump.
Flowery Branch took second in the 4x800 and freshman Alisha Parks won the discus throw with a heave of 100-feet, 6-inches for the Lady Falcons. She was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 31-10. Tavis Sykes was fourth in the high jump with a leap of five-feet for the Lady Falcons.
Gainesville's Alexis Smith was third in the pole vault with a leap of seven-feet.Stasha Hopkins took third in the shot put for the Lady Elephants with a throw of 33-9. Hopkins was sixth in the discus with a toss of 90-02.
In the boys competition, Flowery Branch had both relay teams finish strong taking third and fourth, respectively, in the 4x800. Ben Liu and Joseph Lozano took third and fourth in the pole vault.
For Flowery Branch, Isaac Mize finished second in the high jump with a leap of 6-02. Joel Ryder was third in the shot put with a heave of 44-01.Orin Ragland took fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 41-10 1/4. Colton Quinones had a strong performance taking fourth in the discus with a throw of 138-01 and fifth in the shot put with a throw of 44-00.
Apalachee got individual wins in the shot put and long jump.
The third and final day is scheduled for Thursday at Loganville.
