Region tennis and track tournaments will begin this week and include some intense competition, as tennis teams look for a top four spot and track individuals look to book a spot in the state sectional meets that have been added to this year's slate.

Speaking of baseball and soccer, northeast Georgia's programs face a huge round of contests this week, including Gainesville baseball's rematch with Loganville, as the top two teams in Class AAAAA face off at Ivey-Watson Field. The Red Elephants edged the first contest and will be eager for the sweep before taking on Flowery Branch on Wednesday and Thursday in an appetizing 8-AAAAA series.
Meanwhile, North Hall and Buford, who split contests in Region 7-AAA earlier this season, will battle again on Friday in a contest that could decide the fate of the top seed in 7-AAA. Jefferson will also look to keep tits dominance in Region 8-AA going.
On the pitch, 7-AAA also faces some key soccer games, as the North Hall, West Hall, Dawson County, Buford and East Hall boys all battle for a top four spot. Tuesday, the Trojans and Spartans will face each other in a contest at the top of the league. Meanwhile, the Buford and Dawson County girls will look to stay undefeated in region play, while White County and North Hall also look to keep pace.
Gainesville also faces a huge showdown for both boys and girls teams against Heritage on Friday at City Park in Region 8-AAAAA. And in 8-AAAA, Chestatee's boys and girls will also look to consolidate their positions as region leaders on Tuesday in Toccoa against Stephens County.
It will be the kind of week in which seasons could be defined on any given day.
