Piedmont Cantabile to perform spring concert April 9

DEMOREST - "From Byrd to the Beatles" is the theme for the upcoming concert by the Piedmont College a capella group, Cantabile. The free performance is at 5 p.m., April 9, in Brooks Hall in the Center for Worship and Music in Demorest.

The program includes music from England, Scotland, and Wales from the 16th century to the 1960s by composers William Byrd, Orlando Gibbons, Henry Purcell, Arthur Sullivan, and Gerald Finzi. Also included are traditional British folk songs and arrangements of Beatles songs such as "Eleanor Rigby," "If I Fell," and "When I'm Sixty-Four."

The Cantabile singers include Sophia Allison, alto; Brett Bellamy, tenor; Lindsey Brakhage, soprano; Brianna Foley, alto; Wallace Hinson, tenor; Jennifer Pitt, soprano; Rebekah Staton, soprano/alto; Chris Sudderth, bass; and John Wright, bass.
