Oconee County Sheriff's Chief Investigator Jay Higgins said that there are currently no suspects. He said it appears nothing was stolen, but the structure was damaged and furniture was destroyed.
Authorities say a deputy surveyed the damage with a church deacon and trustee Tuesday. The scout troop is no longer active, so no one had been to the building for about six weeks.
A church spokesman told the newspaper no monetary estimate has been made on the damage.
