The Wolves more than made up for it on Wednesday.
Buford took advantage of six North Hall errors and rallied twice from deficits to take a 7-3 win at McQuaig Field.
The key inning came in the sixth when Buford (10-2, 7-1 Region 7-AAA) scored four times as the Trojans committed three errors in the inning.
The first one came on a grounder that turned into a safe call at second when no one covered the bag. But the biggest came on a throwing error to home on a potential double-play grounder with the bases loaded and no outs that instead led to two runs to give the Wolves the lead for good.
"I thought we played a much better team game today than (Tuesday) and we took advantage of their mistakes," Wolfe said. "I'm just real proud of how the kids hung in there and bounced back after a tough loss."
It was a key game for both teams as the Trojans (11-2, 7-1) had a chance to take a two-game in the region standings on the Wolves. Buford needed a win to keep pace.
Buford and North Hall now share the region lead and are two games ahead of both Dawson County and White County. The Trojans and Wolves are 1-1 against each other and a combined 12-0 against the rest of the region.
They will meet April 19 at North Hall in a third game that is likely to decide the region title.
"We're not thinking that far down the road," Wolfe said. "But that will be a big game depending on what both of us do between now and then."
North Hall, as in Tuesday's game, jumped out to a quick lead in the first inning. Zach Mize doubled with one out, moved to third on a throwing error by Buford starter Conner Bennett, and scored an unearned run on Colton Duttweiler's fielder's choice for a 1-0 lead.
Buford would respond in the bottom of the first when Patrick Burnette singled with one out and scored on Jake Mayo's two-out single to right to tie the game. Mayo would steal second and score on Russell Klein's double to right for a 2-1 lead.
The Trojans reclaimed the lead in the top of the third with two runs on three hits. Griffin Olson drove in Preston Graham and then he would score on Duttweiler's second RBI ground out of the game for a 3-2 lead.
Bennett would give way to Jake Higginbotham in the fourth and Higginbotham would shut down the Trojans offense the rest of the way fanning seven and allowing no hits in three innings to get the win.
"Jake has really been throwing the ball well all season and I thought he did a great job of giving us a chance to get back in the game," Wolfe said.
The Wolves would tie the game in the fourth taking advantage of three North Hall errors. Ryan Bramlett reached on an error and later would score on a throwing error as the Trojans attempted an inning-ending double play.
Bennett went four innings for Buford yielding four hits and two earned runs while striking out five.
Duttweiler, who was tagged with his first loss of the season, deserved a better fate. The lefty went five-plus innings fanning four and allowing six hits. Only two of the seven runs charged to Duttweiler were earned.
