Organizers say the event is one of only two quarry races in the United States.
Organized by the Healthcare Association of Forsyth County, an initiative of the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, the race will start at Northside Hospital-Forsyth and will continue up Ronald Reagan Boulevard and into the quarry.
At the finish line, Bluegrass Materials Company will host the Spring Fling inside the quarry property. Tents are on sale for businesses who want their company to be seen by hundreds of families in the community. The Spring Fling will feature live music, food and beverages, family activities and educational displays showing how the quarry operates.
Proceeds from this year's race will benefit Forsyth County Parks and Recreation and the "Envision a Fit Forsyth" program.
Online registration is available through Thursday, April 11, 2013 (see link below). The registration fee is $30, and all participants who pre-register will receive a performance shirt at the finish line.
