In a few weeks, Woerner may also be known as a College Football Hall of Fame member.
Woerner's name was recently included -- along with 77 others -- on the ballot for this year's Hall of Fame class, as voted on by the National Football Foundation.
A former All-Conference and All-American defensive back and punt returner, Woerner joined fellow Bulldog Matt Stinchcomb -- an All-American offensive tackle -- on this year's list that also includes former collegiate stars such as Brian Bosworth (linebacker, Oklahoma), Tony Boselli (offensive line, Southern Cal), Marco Coleman (linebacker, Georgia Tech), Tommie Frazier (quarterback, Nebraska), Vinny Testaverde (quarterback, Miami), and Danny Wuerffel (quarterback, Florida)
This year's FBS Hall of Fame Class will be announced live in New York City on May 7.
Woerner, who played from 1977-80, is still second all-time in interception return yards for Georgia, with 13 pick-offs for 303 yards. He is still No. 1 all-time in punt return yards for a season (488) and second in career punt return yards (1,077). Woerner was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 1981.
