Soccer: Big second half propels Lady War Eagles past Walnut Grove

WALNUT GROVE -- Chestatee scored six unanswered goals in a 6-1 win over Walnut Grove Friday in Region 8-AAAA girls soccer action.

The Lady War Eagles trailed early as Walnut Grove scored in the first four minutes. Chestatee's Jacelin Sanchez tied the game at 1-1 five minutes later on a long shot from 35 yards out. Alexis Rebollar would give Chestatee a 2-1 halftime lead with a goal just before the half.

The Class AAAA ninth-ranked Lady War Eagles put the game away with three goals in a 10-minute span early in the second half.

Heydi Acosta nailed a corner kick from Rebollar just two minutes into the period. Acosta then returned the favor, sending a pass to Rebollar, who scored to make it 4-1. Four minutes later Rebollar set up Sadie Foote for a goal to give the Lady War Eagles a 5-1 lead with 28 minutes left in the game.

Abbie Cliché finished the scoring with a goal off Rebollar's third assist of the half.

Melanie Smith had four saves for Chestatee (7-2, 3-0 Region 8-AAAA).
