CBS-Atlanta reported Windstream Communications is committed to solving its internet speed problems, looking to spend $14 million in 2013 to upgrade its broadband network in Georgia.
Bettye Willis, Regional Vice-President of the Arkansas based company, told the TV station that Windstream's investment will improve service to customers in two-thirds of the communities it serves. She pointed out, however, that not every customer in each community will see upgrades.
"We're asking our customers to be patient with us because we're on it. We understand that they have issues and we're working to upgrade their network," said Willis.
A recent study by the Federal Communications Commission found Windstream was the worst in providing advertised broadband speeds, only doing so 81 percent of the time.
The company has been plagued with complaints of slow internet speeds for years, and according to the Governor's Office of Communications, there is an open investigation into Windstream for possible consumer law violations.
Willis suggested customers who believe they're not getting the service they're paying for should contact the company for a possible discount.
