At nearly 14,000 square feet, the center allows the church to expand programs at Kid's Cove (children and youth), students, adults and senior adults and develop a new and life-transforming ministry to children and adults with special needs. Church officials say the goal is to provide another church tool for personal evangelism and fellowship through recreation and family activities which strengthens the body, soul and spirit.
"We believe this ministry center will provide space for Christ followers to train, equip, love and reach lost people. We are mindful of all, whose life and love have in times past, been given to the furtherance of the life and work of Lakewood. God placed confidence and trust in us with this unique ministry tool," said senior pastor, Dr. Tom Smiley.
The opening of the ministry center represents the initial capital project of the church's "Sharing the Vision" campaign. The three-year campaign is also designed to enhance the church's mission to serve locally and globally.
The ministry center is located on Lakewood's campus at 2235 Thompson Bridge Road. For additional information, visit www.lakewoodlife.org/ministrycenter or telephone 770.532-6307.
