Tennis: Lady Raiders rally past Chestatee

GAINESVILLE -- Madison County rallied from two matches down to take a hard-fought 3-2 win over Chestatee Thursday in Region 8A-AAAA girls tennis action.

Chestatee jumped out to a 2-0 lead by sweeping the No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles but were unable to secure another match for the team win.

Chestatee's Lily Kiang defeated Madison County's Abby Thrasher 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and the Lady War Eagles' Haley King and Grace Brown swept by KayLee Bates and Abby Morgan 6-3, 6-0.

But the Lady Red Raiders battled back as Maranda Dove topped Chestatee's Fernanda Arcaraz at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-3 and Kassey Conner won the No. 3 singles point by beating Lauren McNitt 6-2, 6-3. Madison County completed the victory at No. 2 doubles as Savannah Mainland and Karli Booth won 6-0, 6-1 over Chestatee's Carolina Gijon and Natalie McNitt.
