The Lady War Eagles (18-5, 6-1 Region 8-AAAA) got a 3-pointer from Erin Clifford to start the game and forced seven Johnson turnovers to pull away for a 19-5 lead after the first quarter.
Chestatee would extend its lead to 32-5 early in the second quarter with a 13-0 run before taking a 39-10 lead into halftime.
Johnson used a 10-5 run to start the third quarter to pull within 44-20. After the Lady War Eagles pushed the lead back to 28, the Lady Knights used a 9-3 run to get within 51-29 midway through the fourth quarter.
They could get no closer.
Sam Brown and Maegan Kenimer led Chestatee with 14 points each. Tyler Bennett and Clifford had seven points apiece for the Lady War Eagles.
Johnson was paced by 10 points from Sarah Williams.
It was just the third win in the last five games for the Lady War Eagles, who are tied with Stephens County atop the region but own the tiebreaker by virtue of their win over the Lady Indians earlier this week. But Chestatee is just one-half game ahead of Eastside, which handed Chestatee its only region loss two weeks ago.
