DAHLONEGA - A new ultrasound imagining machine arrived Wednesday, Dec 4, at Dahlonega Care Center Prenatal Imagining, a donation from St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Parish, Knights of Columbus Counsel #14122, in Lilburn.

Life Images currently provides free, limited OB ultrasounds at Dahlonega Care Center every four weeks for the women of Lumpkin and Dawson counties, as well as surrounding areas. With the gift of this $40,000 ultrasound machine, Dahlonega Care Center will begin doing business as DCC Prenatal Imaging at 385 C North Grove Street beginning early 2014.

The free ultrasounds will help determine gestational age and allow the expecting mother and family to see the baby's heartbeat and "bond with the baby," according to a press release, which goes on to say "Karen (DCC Executive Director) and the staff at DCC hope that this new machine, medical facility, and staff will allow for greater opportunities to help women and families make life-affirming choices in the Dahlonega/Dawsonville area."
