The incentive grant, that will last through September 2014, is designed for smaller law enforcement agencies that have partnered with GOHS and excelled in participating in highway safety initiatives as well as making their communities safe during the previous year.
"This will ensure that White County Sheriff's Office continues to promote traffic safety," said White County Sheriff Neal Walden. "The grant funds will be used to purchase the new Intoxilyzer 9000 breath testing machine and flashlights which will be used in DUI and traffic enforcement activities. All agencies are required to have the new breathalyzer in use by January 2016."
Harris Blackwood, director of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety said, "The goal of the grant is to reward agencies for their proactive approach to traffic safety and to provide them with the necessary tools to effectively continue their lifesaving efforts."
