Boys basketball: Defense leads Lumpkin County over Union County

BLAIRSVILLE -- Every player on the roster scored for Lumpkin County Friday night as the Indians whipped Union County 59-40.

The Indians (4-2) also were 10-of-18 from 3-point range.

Lumpkin County opened the game with a 15-6 first quarter and used a 34-17 run in the second and third quarters to blow the game open. The Panthers (2-1) outscored Lumpkin County 17-10 in the fourth quarter to make it closer.

Jack Howard led Lumpkin with 10 points. Johnny Gilreath added eight points, and Cal Thrailkill had seven points for the Indians.

For Union County, Dylan Coyne had 10 points, Luke Arnick added seven points, Hunter Hughes had six points, and Tyler Odom and Matthew Wasko had four points each.

Thomas Danck scored five points for the Panthers.
