Girls basketball: Dawson County opens 7-AAA with win

BLUE RIDGE -- Sophomore Karlie Bearden scored 27 points and Ashley Parker had a double-double to lead the Dawson County girls to a 70-56 win over Fannin County Tuesday in both teams' Region 7-AAA opener.

The Lady Tigers (4-0, 1-0 Region 7-AAA) opened the game with a 20-12 first quarter and then blew the game open with a 17-7 second quarter.

Fannin County closed the gap to 52-41 by the end of the third quarter but Dawson County held on in the fourth quarter sinking several key free throws for the win.

Sheyenne Seabolt added 15 points for Dawson County.

Dawson County next will continue its Region 7-AAA schedule traveling to Banks County on Friday.
