DA may request death penalty in child abuse case

ATLANTA - Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter says he may request the death penalty for the parents of a girl whose emaciated and burned body was found in a trash bin.

Porter told WSB-TV Sunday that the case involving 10-year-old Emani Moss is the worst he's seen in 30 years with the court system.

Moss' body was found in a trash bin at a Lawrenceville apartment complex Nov. 2. The girl's father, Eman Moss, and her stepmother, Tiffany Moss, have been arrested on murder and child cruelty charges.

Gwinnett County police have said they believe the girl was starved to death. Police and the Georgia Department of Family and Children's Services had repeated contact with the family before Moss' death.
