CANDIDATE: Mary Ellen Rogers<br /> <br /> OCCUPATION: Retired<br /> <br /> 1) Why are you running for this office?<br /> <br /> To keep alcohol and taxes out of our little town. <br /> <br /> 2) Is this the first time you have run for political office? If "no," please explain.<br /> <br /> No. I am currently on the council and am running for a second term. <br /> <br /> 3) What qualifications for the office do you bring to the campaign?<br /> <br /> The way I feel about the town and the people. I'm an old timer. I've always lived in this little town and I have lots of people who depend on me and they help me when I need help. My father was a sawmill man who sat on the council and my brother did (served on the council), too. I want to keep the small town feel it has. I know it will be hard to do, though. I just love it (the town).<br /> <br /> 4) What do you see as the biggest concern/issue facing the city of Clermont?<br /> And, please explain your answer.<br /> <br /> Change for the sake of change and the chance that alcohol will be sold here. <br /> <br /> 5) Are there any specific goals you would like to accomplish if you are elected?<br /> And, please explain your answer.<br /> <br /> Keep alcohol out. I'm a little too old, though, to jump on the bandwagon to do bigger things.<br /> <br />
