Me? Overdrawn At The Bank?

There was a political cartoon back in the 1960's showing this hippie-looking kid yelling at his parents, waving some sort of a booklet at them, and saying "there is no way I can be overdrawn at the bank. I've got plenty of blank checks left." This immediately came to mind the other day when President Obama attacked the Tea Party Republicans for opposing an increase in the debt ceiling of the U. S. Government. "Everybody wants the U. S. government to pay its bills." President Obama said. "It is irresponsible not to pay our bills." He didn't mention who had spent the money in the first place.
