JEFFERSON -- Jacob Lewis put up the kind of night that most quarterbacks can only dream of Friday, as the Jackson County signal caller passed for 331 yards and six touchdowns.

The stellar performance helped the Panthers to a 56-27 win over Oconee County in Jefferson.

Lewis was also efficient, completing 20 of 31 passes -- 10 to Xavier Harper, who caught three of the touchdown passes and finished with 185 yards receiving. Harper also rushed twice for 23 yards and a score.

Jackson County (3-5, 3-2 Region 8-AAA) finished with 482 yards of offense, taking a 35-7 first half lead.

Layson Giles also had a big night at receiver for the Panthers, hauling in seven catches for 119 yards and two scores, while Adrian Parsons also nabbed a touchdown pass. Malik Tuck also rushed 13 times for 42 yards and a score.

Donovan Hicks led the Jackson County defense with nine tackles, while Chris Griggs and Todd Woodring each recovered fumbles.

Jackson County heads to 8-AAA leader Elbert County next Friday.
