Blue Ridge man in 1st DDS graduating class

ATLANTA - Commissioner Rob Mikell, Department of Driver Services (DDS), congratulated 18 new team members during their graduation from DDS University's Basic Driver Examiner Course recently. The new driver examiners and two regional district managers represent the inaugural graduation class from DDS University.<br /> <br /> The main objective of the Basic Driver Examiner Course is to reduce customer wait time by providing more efficient team members who can assist customers competently with little on-the-job training. Learning the complex driver's licensing issuance process in a formal classroom ensures that the most efficient strategies and procedures are being applied and shared in the customer service centers.<br /> <br /> "Our graduates come to DDS with a wide range of skills and experience," said Commissioner Mikell. "After this specialized training, these team members are able to move more rapidly into their new positions with the expanded knowledge and the skillset to be productive team members," he added.<br /> <br /> DDS University is an agency-wide career enrichment program designed to provide leadership development and professional development courses in order to promote and enhance the team member's career growth. <br /> <br /> The six-week training program provided new employees with extensive instruction in license and state identification card issuance and testing in the classroom and in the field. The curriculum covers all aspects of the license issuance process in eleven courses over a six week period including Information Desk, Document Review, Fraud Remediation, Queuing and Lobby Management, Road Testing and Issuance Training. The next DDS University class will have 35 team members with graduation expected in November.<br /> <br /> Those graduating were: Douglas Berininger, Regional District Manager; Donald Brown, Fayetteville; La'Ton Bryant-Young, Macon; Rosalind Cook, Fayetteville; Janel Davis, Lithonia; Kamini Gandhi, Locust Grove; Demitri Hunter, Atlanta; Kianna Kennebrew, Sandy Springs; Genesis Kilgore, Lithonia; Michelle Lukusa, Norcross; Jasmine Lupoe; Norcross; Eric Mitchell, Regional District Manager; Felicia Murphy, Lithonia; Anissa Quashie, North Cobb; Charles Rubin, Blue Ridge; Shonda Scott, Fayetteville; Wallicia Whisby, Macon; Felicia Williams, Brunswick. Donald Brown was selected class president of the inaugural class. The Highest Scholastic Average honor was awarded to Kianna Kennebrew of the Sandy Springs Customer Service Center. Other top performers include: Wallicia Whisby, Jasmine Lupoe and Eric Mitchell.<br /> <br /> Driver examiners are in demand statewide.
