The Tigers (5-3, 3-1 Region 8-A) held the Spartans (4-3, 1-2) to just 88 total yards, while rolling up 250 yards rushing in the win.
Commerce got 81 yards and two touchdowns from Jamir Walton to lead the way, including the go-ahead touchdown in the second quarter. The six-yard run was part of a 21-point second quarter, as Chance McClure and Grant Mayberry also got on the scoreboard to help the Tigers take control.
McClure finished with 17 carries for 66 yards, while Mayberry added 59 yards on 11 carries.
The Tigers also pounced on three Spartans turnovers in the game, including two interceptions. Athens Academy completed just 6 of 22 passes for 34 yards.
Commerce will travel to take on Hebron Christian next week.
