Cross country: War Eagles' Carnes wins Oglethorpe meet in record fashion

LEXINGTON -- Chestatee's Jason Carnes won the individual race at the Oglethorpe County Patriot cross country meet Thursday.

Carnes turned in a personal time of 16:57 to win the meet. His effort also helped the War Eagles finish second overall behind Athens Academy. Hebron Christian finished third.

Jason Dang placed sixth for Chestatee in a time of 17:25 and Ivan Martin was 15th.

The Lady War Eagles took fourth in the girls meet behind Loganville, Athens Academy, and Hebron Christian, respectively.

Senior Sara Beth English finished second overall for Chestatee with a time of 20:30. Abbie Cliche was 12th, Merrie Barnett 18th, and Shelby Bennett took 20th for the Lady War Eagles.

Chestatee next will run at Williams Mill Park in a tri-meet with Johnson and Gainesville next week
