The Knights stormed out to a 25-6 lead after the first quarter, and then outscored the Red Raiders 30-11 in the second quarter to roll to a 55-17 halftime lead. Johnson continued the onslaught in the third quarter outscoring Madison 21-6 to take a 76-23 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Johnson (13-4, 1-0 Region 8-AAAA) had balanced scoring with six players in double-figures. Ty Cockfield led the charge with 17 points. Carter Cagle added 15 points, Roderick English had 12, and Drew Dunham and James Hodges each had 10 points for the Knights. Montrell McKenzie had another double-double in limited minutes with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Madison County was led by Laderius McGuire with 12 points.
Johnson next will travel to Stephens County on Friday.
