Boy dies when run over by Dad's truck

AUBURN - Authorities say a 7-year-old child begged his father to ride on his work truck before his 4-year-old brother slipped off the bumper and was run over, killing him.

Georgia State Patrol officials say the accident happened shortly before 7 p.m. Monday in the driveway of the family's apartment complex in Auburn.

State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright says the 7-year-old was riding on the driver's side on the step bumper and the 4-year-old was riding on the passenger side. Wright said that the truck was coasting in neutral, and struck the younger child as he fell from the truck.

Wright said the older boy had been asking his father all day to ride on the truck.
