That Saturday GMP will remember the life of Larry Fleeman as Mini Stocks, Renegades, Sportsman, Outlaw Late Models, Trucks and Pro Late Models compete on the half-mile oval.
"This race means a lot to me," said Russell Fleeman, son of Larry Fleeman. "Daddy and I enjoyed racing all of my life and it is something that we did together. Not only is racing something that I enjoy, but it's also something that holds many memories for me with my dad. It's nice to have those that have continued to be apart and keep his memory alive, especially because he loved racing so much and was so supportive of GMP."
Since the first race in November of 2009, Larry Fleeman was a huge part of GMP. He provided the Official Pace Car and sponsored several race events.
"In the short time that I knew Larry Fleeman, it was apparent that our business ties would ultimately bring us together as personal friends," said Dan Elliott, General Manager of GMP. "Our friendship was cultivated by a mutual love for automobile racing. It was also apparent that he loved to watch his son and granddaughter race and how important the bond was between them. We can not begin to thank the Fleeman Family enough for all that they have done for GMP and for the sport."
Tickets for the Larry Fleeman Memorial 100 will be $20 for adults, $17 for seniors and military and kids 12 and under will be admitted free of charge.
Starting Aug. 6th, GMP will give away tickets to the Larry Fleeman Memorial 100 on Facebook and Twitter. The contests will continue through Thursday.
Trackside and Grandstand ticket gates will open at 2 p.m. and there will be an autograph session following qualifying at 6:30 p.m. Opening ceremonies will take place at 7:30 p.m. before the green flag falls for the first race of the evening.
