CLAYTON - A Rabun County animal shelter has closed it's doors until an investigation into its practices are complete.

According to a report by Fox 5 News, the Boggs Mountain Humane Society claimed to be a no "kill-shelter" - with patrons who paid for that guarantee - but was arranging for dogs and cats to be euthanized.

Lt. Jack Tanksley with the Rabun County Sheriff's Department said, "Well, right now its been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and actually they are taking the lead."

The Board of Directors of the shelter say they will fully cooperate with the investigation and have placed the director on indefinite paid administrative leave.
