HELEN - Noted artist and facilitator, Gayle Murdock will offer a hands-on art concentration from 9:30-4:30, August 16, 17, 18 at the Helen Arts & Heritage Center (HAHC). The course, designed to give participants both personal and artistic growth, is open to artists of all levels, tailored to the individual artists' skill ability and interests.

"Bring your idea file of inspiration," says Mrs. Murdock, who has taught several classes and workshops for HAHC. Media used will include acrylic, watercolor, oils and mixed media. Projects will range from studio drawing, still life, abstract art and others.

Guest artists Paula Ash and Sue Williams will each offer a special demonstration during the workshop. Attendees will supply their own paints and other materials, including at least 6 surfaces on which to paint. Several medium sized, some small sized and at least one large sized canvas or board will be needed. No fee will be charged but donations to the Helen Arts & Heritage Center are requested, $45 for one day or $120 for all three days.

The HAHC is operated by the Helen Arts & Heritage Council, a non-profit organization, that was founded in 2007 "to preserve the area's unique heritage and support the arts and the talented artists who grace our community." It is housed in the old Helen City Hall.

Participants are required to register by Monday, August 13. Contact Gayle Murdock at 850-830-8847 for more information. To register, call the Helen Arts & Heritage Center at 706-878-3933. The center is open Thursday through Monday from 12:00-4:00.
