The event will celebrate and raise awareness about the Americans with Disabilities Act, which was passed 22 years ago. The ADA requires access to both public and private facilities and opened the door to employment for thousands, while prohibiting discrimination.
The proceeds of the event will benefit Access to a Better Tomorrow, Inc., a non-profit whose mission is to "ensure Georgians with disabilities have equal opportunities to enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
The one-mile Freedom Stroll is open to anyone, and will take place immediately after the ADA Memorial 5K. This event is for all ages. Cost: $20, if pre-registered by July 17; $25 on race day. Participants must preregister to guarantee correct T-shirt size. Register online at www.adamemorial.org/ or at www.active.com.
