According to CNN, the family of Kile Glover said they are leaning on their faith in God and are asking for prayers for the 11 year old.
"We know God's in control, and are leaning on our faith in Him and His word at this most difficult time," his family said in the statement Tuesday. "We firmly believe in the power of prayer and ask that you all continue to pray and lift Kile up, as it's the best way we can all support him now."
Officials with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said Glover and a 15-year-old girl were airlifted to the Atlanta hospital after they were run over by a jet ski Friday afternoon.
DNR officials said 38-year-old Jeffrey S. Hubbard was operating the personal watercraft when it ran over the two juveniles, who were being towed on an inner tube on the back of a pontoon boat.
Both children were taken by air ambulance to Egleston Children's Hospital of Atlanta, one with a serious head injury. Atlanta media outlets are reporting that the 11-year-old boy injured in the crash is now brain dead.
Entertainment web site TMZ.com has identified Glover as the son of R&B singer Usher's ex-wife. The web site has reported, and Fox 5 and the Atlanta Journal Constitution have said, that doctors at Grady Hospital in Atlanta have declared the boy brain dead.
The Department of Natural Resources and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are continuing a probe of the crash.
The jet ski involved in the crash has been seized. So far, no charges have been filed against the Hubbard.
