This recognition marks the fourth Forsyth County water or wastewater treatment facility so-honored in the past five years. The county's Windermere Water Treatment Facility, Manor Water Reclamation Facility and Fowler Water Reclamation Facility have each previously received the accolade.
GAWP annually audits and conducts inspections of water and wastewater plants in different size classifications throughout the state. Representatives of GAWP visit each facility to inspect for safety, operations, record keeping and maintenance. The Parkstone facility was selected as the winner in the "less than 1 million gallon, non-discharge" plant category.
The Parkstone Wastewater Treatment Facility is located in the Parkstone subdivision. The plant was built in 2004 as a private wastewater facility and was acquired by Forsyth County in 2006. Forsyth County contracts with ESG Operations, Inc. for the operation, maintenance and management of the plant.
"This recognition is a reflection of all of the hard work and extra effort put forth by ESG Operations, Inc.," Forsyth County Director of Water and Sewer Tim Perkins said. "We recognize and appreciate the great job they do every day."
"This recognition is also certainly due in part to the continual support the Board of Commissioners provides to the Water and Sewer Department, and their commitment to ensuring the county has a top-notch water and sewer system," Perkins continued. "Their ongoing support, along with the quality work of ESG, has resulted in Forsyth County water and wastewater treatment facilities being repeatedly recognized for excellence in recent years."
GAWP is a not-for-profit association founded in 1932 with membership of more than 4,000 water and wastewater treatment plant operators and managers, municipal and industrial officials and environmental managers, civil engineers, environmental engineers, scientists, manufacturers and their representatives, contractors, elected officials and others concerned with Georgia's water resources.
