Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest Supervisor George Bain hopes the fee waiver will encourage first-time visitors to explore Georgia's forests. "It's a perfect opportunity for reconnecting our youth to the great outdoors," said Bain.
This is the second of four Forest Service fee waiver events of 2012. The fee waiver days support President Obama's "America's Great Outdoors" initiative, as well as First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move Outside" program.
National Get Outdoors Day began June 14, 2008 as an initiative led by the USDA Forest Service and the American Recreation Coalition (ARC) to connect Americans, particularly youth, with nature and active lifestyles in a single day.
Forest visitors may check with their local Forest Service office for additional information.
