They were reported just minutes apart as a strong thunderstorm, accompanied by vivid lightning, hit the Gainesville area.
Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said the first call came in about 2:40 to the 3000 block of Meadow Place in Oakwood.
"...(firefighters) found an old chicken house type building approximately 200 feet long that was used for storage," Chief Kimbrell said. "The building was fully involved upon arrival."
Kimbrell added the structure was "difficult to access, and firefighters had to clear out the access road in order to gain access."
About 15 minutes later, firefighters were dispatched to the 3200 block of Baker Road to a report of a structure fire.
Kimbrell said they found a "twenty-by-forty (foot) mobile home with light smoke showing. Further investigation revealed a spot in the floor behind the washing machine where apparent wires were burned. The fire appears to have been caused by a lighting strike shorting out wires in the crawlspace of the mobile home."
Damage was estimated at $2,000.
