Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope said Sunbelt Construction, Inc. of Tucker will build the 1.97-mile roadway. The new bypass will begin at Hope Drive at US 129/SR 11 and extend west to Highway 115.
Total construction cost is just over $16.7 million.
Last month, the bid was deferred on the project because of environmental issues.
"Approval has not come yet from the EPD (Environmental Protection Division) because we have two outstanding items with them," Pope said at the time.
Pope said one of the items is getting the stream buffer variance, which is still under review. She said secondly, GDOT is purchasing needed stream buffer mitigation credits.
Pope said the project has a projected completion date of December 31, 2014.
