Hwy. 53 back open in Dawson County

DAWSONVILLE - Highway 53 is back open in Dawson County after storms in the early morning hours Monday downed more than 30 trees on Highway 53 near Cowart Road.

The highway was closed between Amicalola Bridge and Cowart Road, but authorities reported it had re-opened shortly before 8:00 a.m.

Dawson County emergency officials said about 25 customers remained without power due to ensuing problems with power lines. All of those customers were expected to have electricity again by noon.
