The Coastal Health District says St. Andrews Beach and Clam Creek Beach were placed under advisory following routine water quality tests from samples taken May 29. Both locations showed a high level of enterococci bacteria.
Health officials recommend against swimming or wading in the water in the areas under advisory. Fish and other seafood caught from these areas should be well cleaned with fresh water and thoroughly cooked before eating
The areas will be retested and the advisories will be lifted when tests show the bacteria levels meet the Environmental Protection Agency's recommended standards.
