KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee has suspended sophomore tight end Cameron Clear indefinitely after his arrest on a felony theft charge.

Jimmy Stanton, Tennessee's associate athletic director for communications, announced the suspension Wednesday and said university officials were continuing to gather information.

Jail records show the 19-year-old sophomore from Memphis was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of theft between $1,000 and $10,000. Bail was set at $2,500. Clear posted bond late Tuesday night.

The 6-foot-6, 283-pound Clear entered the spring No. 2 on the depth chart behind senior Mychal Rivera, despite catching only one pass last year. He played in all 12 games last season, starting two, and was one of Tennessee's top recruits in 2011.
