Oklahoma City scored two runs in the sixth inning to knock off Brenau 2-1 on in the National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics championships tournament in Gulf Shores, Ala.
The outcome knocked the Golden Tigers (44-16) from the competition and ended their season just one win shy of an appearance in the championship game -- and a rematch with Shorter (which defeated Brenau 5-1 earlier in the day).
Brenau went 5-2 in tournament play, after making just its second appearance at the NAIA championships.
Tiffany Schandera got things going for the Golden Tigers on Tuesday, leading off with a double before eventually scoring on a wild pitch for a 1-0 lead.
Schandera finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate -- the only hits Brenau managed off of Oklahoma City starter Lily LaVelle, who also struck out 10 Golden Tigers batters in a compete game performance.
Brenau starter Anna Maness also pitched all seven innings, scattering seven hits while pitching five frames of shutout softball. But Oklahoma City found the runs it needed in the top of the sixth when Angela Lovelady doubled down the leftfield line to score both Kylee Rounsaville and Magean De La Torre.
NOTE: Oklahoma City advanced to its 13th all-time national championship game with the win.
