Brenau softball drops game to Shorter, faces must-win

GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The Brenau University softball team saw its unbeaten streak in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics tournament come to an end courtesy a 5-1 loss to Shorter College on Tuesday in Gulf Shores, Ala.

The loss sent the Golden Tigers into a must-win contest with Oklahoma City at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Brenau outhit Shorter 9-6 on Tuesday morning but couldn't convert the hits into runs before finally scoring in the seventh inning.

Jenny Shepard drove in Brenau's lone run and finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Anna Manness also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3.

Shorter turned a 1-0 lead into a 5-0 advantage thanks to two-run innings in the fourth and fifth.
