Brenau softball moves to 3-0 at NAIA tourney

GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The Brenau University softball team shut out Concordia (Calif.) 2-0 on Saturday in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics championship tournament in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Golden Tigers starter Anna Maness (21-9) shut down Concordia from the pitching circle, scattering five hits and striking out six batters.

Taylor Kelley provided Brenau's only two runs of the night, ripping a two-run double in the eighth inning that scored Jenny Shepard and Sally Duggan. It was Kelley's only hit of the night.

Duggan also finished 2-for-3 at the plate, while Lana Lazar, Katie Bolin and Brooke Bryant also had hits for Brenau.

The Golden Tigers moved to 3-0 in Pool A with the win and advanced to the double-elimination bracket on Monday. Brenau will play Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) at 10 a.m.
