GAINESVILLE - A memorial service will be held Monday in Gainesville for Terry McGinnis, founder of the Ladies Golf Association at Chattahoochee Country Club and a fixture on the Chattahoochee Golf Course for years.

McGinnis, who was 87, died at home Thursday. She had suffered a heart attack and stroke last December.

McGinnis, who founded the Ladies Golf Association in the early 1960s, was a 10-time Chattahoochee Club champion golfer and is noted for holding the most winnings in Chattahoochee Golf Club history. Her last Member-Guest Championship occurred in 2006. For many years, McGinnis authored a newspaper column called Terry's Tee Talk.

She was the widow of Col. Bill Maginnis, who died in 1998, and who served at Riverside Military Academy as football coach early in his career, and later as principal and finally as superintendent.

Monday's memorial service will be held at 6:00 at Memorial Park North Riderside Champel.
