Festivities get underway at 1:00. At 3:00, children will release 1,500 Painted Lady Butterflie, rain or shine.
There is no charge for the event and food, drinks and t-shirts will be on sale. Free children's activities include: Paper Sailboat Races, Face Painting, Playground, and, of course, the butterfly release. Every child in attendance will receive an envelope with a Painted Lady Butterfly to release. The butterflies will be released in unison at 3:00.
Parking is also free, and shuttles will run from Gainesville High School and Woods Mill Academy (formerly Gainesville Middle School).
Friends of the Park is still looking for sponsors for the event but the deadline to sign up is Friday.
