ATLANTA - Georgia transportation officials are expected to reveal their plans for traffic to flow on the emergency lanes of a busy metro Atlanta thoroughfare.

The plan to allow motorists to drive in the emergency lanes of Georgia 400 is aimed at easing traffic congestion.

Fox 5 Atlanta reports that state officials Tuesday are expected to outline how the new system will work.

Sandy Springs Police Chief Terry Sult said law enforcement will be more difficult because police will have fewer areas to pull motorists over for traffic stops.

Officials say the plan will be phased in on some parts of the highway, and expanded if it works. Plans call for the lanes to be open during the morning rush hour.
