CLEVELAND - The White County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of suspicious devices in the northern part of the county Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff's Capt. Jim Couch said they responded to a residence on Myra Branch Road just outside the city of Helen shortly after 5 p.m.

He said the caller was a property caretaker that lived at the residence and had discovered what appeared to be homemade suspicious devices.

Couch said deputies arrived on scene and secured the area and contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Explosives Unit which rendered the devices inactive.

Couch said they believe the devices were left there by former owners of the house.

The White County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate. No arrests have been made in the case.
