Baseball: Trojans clinch 8A-AAA, play GHS for region title

MURRAYVILLE -- Wade Phillips allowed just one bunt hit in tossing a five inning, complete-game to lead North Hall to a 14-0 win over West Hall.

The win clinched Region 8A-AAA for the Trojans, who will play Gainesville next Friday and Saturday for the region title.

The Spartans' only hit came in the top of the third past Jake Shirley. Phillips finished with six strikeouts and walked just one.

The North Hall offense was paced by Andrew Smith, who was 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs scored, and two RBI.

Adam Kelly had two hits, including a home run, with four RBI and two stolen bases.

The Trojans scored six runs in the second to blow the game open.

Cody Fowler finished two hits and Eli Gilmer had a hit and an RBI for North Hall. Griffin Olson had a two run single. Zach Mize, Jesse Strickland, Preston Graham, and Colton Duttweiler each had one RBI.

The Trojans are now (15-7) and (12-4) in region.




The Trojans conclude the regular at Franklin County on Monday.
