GAINESVILLE - Gainesville High School student Joshua Robinson was recently awarded a scholarship to study Chinese in China this summer.

Sponsored by the federal government, the scholarship was one of 25 awarded nationally for the study of one of the "critical strategic languages," such as Chinese, Arabic, or Russian, in the native-speaking country for six weeks. All expenses which include travel, tuition, meals and lodging are covered by the scholarship.

Scholarship recipients were required to submit an application last November and had to participate in phone and personal interviews during final selections.
