Soccer: Lady Knights rout Stephens Co.

OAKWOOD -- Emily Byers scored two goals and assisted on another to help lead the Johnson girls soccer team to an 8-0 win over Stephens County Tuesday night in Region 8-AAA action.

Byers started the scoring with a goal 12 minutes into the game on a pass from Bethany Johnson, who would add an unassisted goal of her own five minutes later. Stephens County would help Johnson with an own goal three minutes later and Sophie Munoz made it 4-0 on an assist by Johnson with one minute left in the first half.

In the second half, Kayln Dumanowsky scored on a pass from Brittany Martin and then Byers, Kayln Dumanowsky, and Kelsey Dumanowsky each scored in the final 13 minutes to blow the game open.

Macy Collins recorded the shutout in goal for the Lady Knights.

Johnson (8-4, 6-2) visits Franklin County on Friday.
