Tennis: Chestatee boys pull out tight match over Warriors

GAINESVILLE -- Chestatee's Blaine Brown and Reed Johnson pulled out a tough three-set match at No. 1 doubles Tuesday to clinch a 3-2 War Eagles' win over White County 3-2 in Region 8A-AAA action.

Brown and Johnson split the first two set 6-3, 5-7, White County's Dee Chambers and Joseph Cathey but held on in the final set.

With the win Chestatee moved to 7-2 in subregion play.

The War Eagles took the Nos. 1 and 2 singles behind dominant play by Jonathan Cook and Jeremiah Reed. Cook defeated the Warrior's Joe Dockery 6-4, 6-1, and Reed won 6-3, 6-1 over Preston Biggers.

White County's James Bowers won at No. 3 singles over Teddy Werner 6-1, 7-5. Micah Houghton and Logan Slay kept the Warrior's alive with a tight 6-1, 0-6, 6-4 win over Chestatee's Casey Campbell and Dillan Stapler at No. 2 doubles.
